About Me
My name is Dennis Rush and I am a teacher at Oak Ridge High School in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. I have taught World History throughout the 36 years that I have been in the classroom. To say the least, I really like what I do at Oak Ridge. I take a great deal of pride in preparing my students to be highly successful in understanding World History, but also, to make sure that they can apply their knowledge in meaningful ways after they leave my classroom.
I am a graduate of the University of Tennessee and I have been married for 35 years. I have a wife, a son, and a daughter. I was also a successful boys high school soccer coach for 27 years until I retired in 2001. It was a great experience that helped distinguish our soccer program on a prominent level due to the many players that sacrificed their time and effort. My wife and I are avid travelers and have been fortunate to take many trips to countries in North America as well as Europe. I enjoy reading historical fiction, hiking, attending sporting events, photography, gardening, shooting pool, and playing serious croquet.
